These days I guess everyone has a blog or maybe more, the same apply to me too. I first started my blogging with Blogger.com. Then after, I got my own domain, hosting, etc. and stopped writing in my Blogger.com’s blog. Before I knew it, one whole year went by, recently I checked back on my blog and found that it gotten a Google Page Rank 4 just like most of my others blogs too. Not bad for something I stopped working on for so long.

I was browsing through the Marketplace section at DigitalPoint forum, and I found quite a number of listing selling text links ads on blogs or website with good PR. So I figured I could do that with my ‘unused’ blog too.

So I posted an ads on DigitalPoint forum selling ‘Permanent $2 text link ads on my PR4 blog. Not too long after, I got my first PM from a potential buyer, I verified the link just to make sure it’s not porn or affiliates. Within 3 emails sent between us, we completed the transaction and with payment sent to me using PayPal. And this is how, I made my first $2 dollar of my ‘unused’ blog!

Soon additional orders started coming too and this is just coming in from just one forum alone, I figured I could post this ads on other Classified sections and forums too. So I did just that too.

Here’s a few some-what limited experience on posting selling text links ads.

  1. Be sure to check if you are targeting the right audience. - This is the basic rule! Always make sure you are posting at the right place with the right audience. E.g. No matter how well I write, I am not likely to get any response if I’m posting my ads in a Cooking forum!
  2. Be detailed and informative in your posting. - Tell any potential buyer what to expect, and how they can complete the transaction with you. E.g Details such as website, email, rules or guidelines if any, should be included in your posting.
  3. Do not post in Google Groups, Yahoo Groups. - Most of these Groups are SPAMs, the number of readers digging into these posts are very limited. And those Groups who are active, are most likely to have a strong subject focus, E.g. Google Gmail, etc. so there’s really reason for you to post there too. Remember rule 1.
  4. Do not abuse Craigslist. - The Craiglist community is very active in spotting SPAMs posts, before you knew it, your listing will be removed by the community. So it’s good to play nice.

I hope you will find this some-what-limited experience useful to you too. In all, I made a total of $32 of my ‘unused’ blog, not bad considering all it took is just a few decent post at the right places.

Do you have an ‘unused’ blog? Maybe you want to give it a shot too! Or maybe you want to transfer it to me? Let me do it for you, and we will split the earnings. :P

This isn’t really the good way to do it. PR 4 is pretty good, so you can get more and will you be paid monthly for this? You have extremely limited space, too. Go with Text Link Ads
